Overview
National Statistical Office of Mongolia conducted pilot Time use survey (TUS) in 2000. In 2004, the Law on Statistics was amended and it required the conduct of TUS every four years. According to this law, NSO conducted the first time national level TUS with international methodology in 2007.A Time use survey is a household statistical survey that provides data on how, on average, people spend their time.
Survey findings show time spent in unpaid and paid work, people's daily activities, and spent time on those activities by specific age group, particularly adult, working age people, children and youth. Also statistical information useful for policy making and decision making was disaggregated by national, area, and gender etc.
Survey objectives
1. determine time spent in unpaid and paid work by gender and 5 years age groups.
2. determine Mongolian population life pattern, and its change.
3. obtain data essential to monitoring progress in the National Program of Gender equality.
Household and household members.
Scope
As mentioned earlier, households are defined as sampling unit. In total, 4,000 households selected for the sample, of these 3,998 were successfully interviewed for household questionnaire. In the interviewed households, 10,696 people age 12 years and over were identified, of these 10,693 were successfully interviewed for individual questionnaire.Producers and Sponsors
