Questions and instructions
Has(name)had diarrhoea in the last two weeks, that is,since(day of the week)of the week before last?
Diarrhoea is determined as perceived by mother or caretaker, or as three or more loose or
watery stools per day, or blood in stool.
When asking this question, insert the name of the day of the interview. For example, if the
interview is taking place on a Tuesday, ask: “Has he/she had diarrhoea in the last two
weeks, that is, since Tuesday of the week before last?”
Record the mother's/primary caretaker's answer by circling the corresponding code. If a
respondent is not sure what is meant by diarrhoea, tell her/him it means “three or more
loose or watery stools per day, or blood in the stool.” Make sure the respondent
understands what is meant by “in the last two weeks.”
