Second meeting of the Steering Committee of Ulaanbaatar city group held in Moscow

  The second meeting of Steering Committee of Ulaanbaatar city group was organized by National Statistical Office of Mongolia in cooperation with Australian Bureau of Statistics and kind hospitality of Federal State Statistics Service of Russian Federation in Moscow during 17-18 September 2013.

  It was attended by representatives of Australia, India, Madagascar, Mongolia, Russia, Vietnam UNESCAP, UNIDO and CISSTAT. Wide representation of ministries and academia of Russian Federation was also represented at the meeting.

  The members of the Steering Committee have reviewed activities carried out by Expert group members within the approved work streams, identified countries to work on each relevant work stream, agreed to hold 2- 3 meetings of Expert group via e-forum and on a basis of the recommendations made by the Expert group to hold Third meeting of the Steering group before September 2014 in order to submit timely the draft report of the city group to UNSD


The First Meeting of the Expert Group of the Ulaanbaatar City Group

  The First Meeting of the Expert Group of the Ulaanbaatar City Group on Statistics for Economies based on Natural Resources was organized from 19 to 20 June, 2013, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. During the meeting, the National Statistical Office of Mongolia (NSO) held a video conference on 20 June, 2013, at 08:00 PM Ulaanbaatar Standard Time. 

  The purpose of the video conference was to discuss a draft of statistical indicators to be used for measuring the impact of the mining industry on economy, society and environment, an agenda of the Second Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Ulaanbaatar City Group to be held in Moscow, draft report structure, and allocation of the work programme. 

  At the video conference, Director of National Accounts Branch, the Australian Bureau of Statistics, and Chair of the Expert Group Mr Roberts; NSO Senior Vice Chairman and Co-chair of the Steering Committee Mr G. Gerelt-Od; Director of NSO Macro-economic Statistics Department, and Member of the Expert Group Ms B. Badamtsetseg; Chief of Energy Statistics Division, Department on Enterprise Statistics, ROSSTAT, Ms. Marianna Bazheva; and  Chief Expert of Foreign Statistics and International Cooperation Department, ROSSTAT, Mr. Alexander Goncharov were present. Also, members of the Expert Group from Brazil, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Mexico, and UNIDO joined the video conference online.
