CALL FOR PAPER, VIENNA MEETING

Call for Papers

 

We cordially invite you to contribute to the 3rd Steering Committee Meeting of Ulaanbaatar City Group (UBCG) 6th – 8th August 2014 that is hosted by the UNIDO by submitting your original research papers & posters on topics in Statistics for economy based on natural resources.

Instructions for Submissions 

All the members who will participate the 3rd Steering Committee Meeting should submit and contribute to each session with their papers.

Experts or researchers of any other organization can participate the meeting with their research paper, survey articles, research results and case studies related to mining on economy, society and environment statistics. 

The submissions to UBCG should be original research results, survey articles or case studies and position papers, including but not limited to the following subjects: 

 

Session No. 1:

“Country Progress Reports”

Session Leader – to be nominated

  • Country cases/practices related to approach of measuring, monitoring and reporting impacts of mining on economy, society and environment;
  • Conceptual and methodological issues and application: definition, classification, framework of indicators for mining statistics, estimation methodology and application etc.

 

 

 

Session No. 2:

“Economic Statistical Indicators”

 

Session Leader – to be nominated 

  • Aim is to assess the impact of mining industry on economies.
  • The methodologies for each of the indicators.
  • Practices on how to demonstrate the impact through official statistics.
  • Specific analytical measures that may extend current official estimates.

 

 

Session No. 3:

“Social Statistical Indicators”

 

Session Leader – to be nominated 

  • Methodologies and indicators for assessing the impact of mining industry on the social sector.
  • Grouped into three categories to enable appropriate expertise to be engaged. The different categories have various frameworks that can be used to facilitate the work, such as the International Labour Organisation’s standards and classification for measuring labour force statistics.

 

Session No. 4:

“Environmental Statistical Indicators”

 

Session Leader – to be nominated 

  • Practices for measuring the impact of the mining industry on the environment.
  • Methodologies and indicators. 

 

 

Session No. 5:

“Open topics related to mining on economy, society and environment”

 

Session No. 6:

"Discussion on Glossary"

Session No. 7:

 "Discussion on Handbook "
